SUMMARY:Respiratory influences on oxygen transport\, fatigue and exercise performance – Free webinar
DESCRIPTION:The aim of this webinar is to discuss these respiratory influences on oxygen transport and how they might exacerbate exercise-induced respiratory and/or peripheral muscle fatigue and compromise endurance performance in health and disease. \nAfter watching this webinar you will be able to demonstrate how the respiratory system impairs locomotor oxygen transport during strenuous exercise by compromising limb blood flow and failing to ensure arterial oxygenation. As well as have a greater knowledge of respiratory influences on oxygen transport. \nAn additional learning outcome is to describe how this respiratory system limitation may exacerbate exercise-induced fatigue and compromises endurance performance. SUMMARY:Biomechanical data in sport: All models are wrong\, but some are useful – Free webinar
DESCRIPTION:Supporting athletes to be faster\, higher or stronger is a complicated problem with multiple hypotheses for each performance question. Biomechanical and performance data can be used to help athletes and coaches navigate these problems using an evidence-based approach. \nThis webinar will explore the different types of data that can underpin this approach (observational\, experimental\, simulation) and discuss how these can be used to understand sports performance and ultimately support data-driven decision-making. SUMMARY:Getting to the bottom of the FODMAP diet and its potential use with athletes
DESCRIPTION:The FODMAP diet has become very popular over the last decade for both the general population and athletes. Head of Performance at Sports Ireland Dr Sharon Madigan discusses the benefits of the FODMAP diet in this webinar. \nDr Sharon Madigan believes that the FODMAP diet can have positive outcomes for athletes. However\, only if the diet is well structured and the athlete is well educated. Following a FODMAP diet has become easier as recently there has been extensive food composition analysis which is regularly updated which helps individuals follow the diet. \nDate: Wednesday 12th December 2018\nTime: 15.00 GMT \n[su_button url=”https://register.gotowebinar.com/register/2067674889973560834″ target=”blank” style=”flat” background=”#00b4f1″ size=”6″]Register free now[/su_button]

SUMMARY:High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Dr Martin Buchheit author of Science and Application of High-Intensity Interval Training will be presenting and talking about all things high intensity at this upcoming event at Newman University. \nHigh-Intensity Interval Training\nHigh-Intensity Interval Training is a time efficient method of exercise training that has been widely used. There are numerous variables that can be manipulated resulting in differing physiological stimuli. During the course of this short workshop you will get an introduction to the research and on-field application of HIIT and how theoretical knowledge\, research evidence and on-field experience can come together to provide effective training solutions. \nDr Buchheit \nAbout Dr Buchheit \nDr Martin Buchheit is currently the Sport Scientist\, Physiologist and Strength & Conditioning Coach at Paris Saint-Germain Football Club (PSG). He is also an adjunct associate professor of exercise science for Victoria University in Australia. He previously worked as an exercise physiologist for ASPIRE Academy in Qatar and he has served as a lecturer\, consultant and strength and conditioning coach for various organisations. \nBuchheit received his doctorate in physiology from the University of Strasbourg in France. He has published more than 160 peer-reviewed manuscripts\, with much of his research focusing on high-intensity interval training. \nThe training tools he has developed include the 30-15 intermittent fitness test\, used to programme high-intensity training and widely used by elite clubs around the world. He also developed the 5-5 running test\, used to monitor training status using heart rate variability. \nBuchheit also has experience with match analysis and talent development and identification. He is an endurance athlete who has a personal best time of 2:54 in the marathon. \nCome see us\nHuman Kinetics will be in attendance armed with the brand new and much sort after Science and Application of High-Intensity Interval Training be one of the first people in Europe to get your hand on it\, you can buy your copy at the event. \nBook your place \nEvents calendar
