Volleyball England have announced the appointment of a new member to the Board of Directors. Gordon Neale OBE has joined the board to cover the area of Disability Volleyball.

Gordon commented, ” It is an honour to be a co-opted member of the Board of Volleyball England. With the new Strategic Plan for volleyball and London 2012 on the horizon I believe, as a sport we have an exciting time ahead of us.

My work with Disability Sport Events (the events arm of the English Federation of Disability Sport) will hopefully add another dimension to Volleyball England’s programmes”

I must commend Volleyball England for their consistent message regarding the inclusion of disabled people within their sport and with the revival of the sitting game in this country we can truly say we are a “sport for all”.

Lisa Wainwright, Chief Executive of Volleyball England added ” The new Volleyball England Strategic Plan 2009/2013 specifically identifies and has gained funding to deliver a new programme to identify and recruit new players to develop the sitting game.

Along with this we have established a new Sitting Volleyball Advisory Group and have increased the profile and scope of our sitting volleyball work by identifying a new role on the Board. Gordon is a great advocate for the game and disability sport overall his expertise, knowledge and can-do attitude will help steer us in the exciting new area of growth in our game”.
