The fitness industry is being offered the opportunity to have its say on the content of a new guideline initiative on physical activity in the UK.
The British Heart Foundation is inviting interested parties to log on and participate in a national web consultation. This is an opportunity for the fitness industry to comment on the draft recommendations on what new UK Guidelines on Physical Activity should include.
The aim is to review and assess the currency of existing Physical Activity Guidelines in light of the most recent scientific evidence taking advantage of the recent systematic reviews undertaken in the US, Canada and in the UK by The British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES).
The intended output of this work is a Technical Report summarising the recommendations for new Physical Activity Guidelines and the process undertaken to reach them. It is envisaged that the Governments of the four Home Countries will then in collaboration or individually produce a new set of Physical Activity Guidelines in 2010.
