One of the showpiece events in the UK basketball calendar is returning to Birmingham’s National Indoor Arena on Sunday 13th January 2013 as the British Basketball League (BBL) Cup Final is contested between current holders, the Newcastle Eagles and the Leicester Riders.
It is the eleventh year in a row that the game, a repeat of last years 2012 Playoff Final, has been played at the NIA and the venue, which is now synonymous with the biggest games in British hoops, has produced some classic finals.
The 2013 Cup Final is one of the most eagerly-anticipated in recent years as this season’s final will feature GB Captain Drew Sullivan of the Leicester Riders as well current BBL MVP Joe Chapman and the most successful coach in BBL history Fabulous Flournoy both of the Newcastle Eagles in the illustrious surroundings of the Birmingham’s NIA.
As the pre-cursor to the main event will be a men’s basketball international, in which England will take on Ireland.
To add to the incredible line-up one of the most prestigious individual prizes, the Kickz.co.uk BBL Slam Dunk Contest trophy, is on the line as the top slam dunkers from all over the country battle it out to be crowned BBL Dunk Champion.
Add into the mix the incredible All Star Dunkers Acrobatic Dunk Team, FOXY the dunking mascot and the ‘BBL Babes Cheerleaders’ and you have an event that will live long in the memory.
