Fitness boasts are the most annoying social media updates

Gym TexterPeople who boast about how much they’ve exercised are the worst thing about social media, according to a new survey.

Bragging fitness addicts and dieters top the list of the most annoying social media users, followed by people who share pictures of every meal they eat.

Third on the list were “cryptic status writers”, those who post a vague or mysterious update that invites people to ask for more details. Usually, they respond to such questions by saying “I don’t want to talk about it”.

The survey of 1,793 social media users found that half of those questioned (52 per cent) use social media services less because of annoying updates from their friends and people they follow.

More than a third of respondents (38 per cent) said they had quit a service altogether because of annoying updates.
