The New York Giants head to Indianapolis to face a New England Patriots side seeking vengeance for defeat four years ago, when their previously perfect season ended in final failure at the hands of the Giants.
Once again they owe their presence in the Sunday’s showpiece final to an overtime 31-yard shot in the semi-final against the San Francisco 49ers from Lawrence Tynes, the Scottish-born kicker now in his fifth season with the “Big Blue”.
Tynes became one of only three British-born winners of Super Bowl as he and London-born defensive end Osi Umenyiora were part of the Giant’s winning team of 2008 and the team mates now have a chance to repeat that feat and gain a second, much-coveted Super Bowl ring.
