Winter Sports Events – Challenges of Diversity and Inclusion
FH Kufstein Tirol, Austria
January 30th  to February 2nd 2013

The Kufstein Winter School for Sports Management offers an engaging, challenging programme of lectures and workshops by top-ranking academics and representatives of international sports businesses, business, leisure and tourism management.

Especially in traditional winter sports, many countries face a growing need to integrate citizens with a multicultural background into all sports activities in order to ascertain professional continuity. At the same time, the question arises as to whether winter sports create an awareness for the current issue of diversity and inclusion.

For people with disabilities, be it mental or physical, winter sports may provide major enrichment to their daily lives, be it as a leisure activity or in competition. The profile of both the Special Olympics (to be hosted in Schladming/Austria in 2017) and the Paralympics (to be hosted in Sochi 2014) is continuously growing. Winter Sports Events may well be an ideal platform for diversity and inclusion.

The 5th Kufstein Winter School will discuss the complex issues of those challenges for Snow and Ice Sports Events and Destinations.

Who should attend:
Graduate students of sports and/or leisure management and students of business studies. Interested students of other fields of study as well as sports professionals and tourism and event managers are also welcome.
